Installation Instructions

Installing luxury vinyl plank (LVP) with a click lock and uniclick system typically follows these steps:

Materials Needed:

  • Luxury vinyl planks with click lock/uniclick system

  • Underlayment (if required)

  • Measuring tape

  • Utility knife

  • Rubber mallet

  • Tapping block

  • Spacers

  • Saw (for cutting)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Surface:

    • Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Remove any debris or obstacles. Repair any imperfections or irregularities in the subfloor.

  2. Underlayment (if required):

    • If using underlayment, roll it out across the floor and cut it to size, ensuring it fits snugly against walls without overlapping. Tape seams if necessary.

  3. Plan the Layout:

    • Plan the layout of the planks, considering the direction and pattern. Use spacers to create an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room (usually around 1/4 inch).

  4. Begin Installation:

    • Start in the corner of the room. With the tongue side facing the wall, place the first plank in position. Make sure the click-lock edges are facing outward.

  5. Connect the Planks:

    • Align the short end of the second plank at an angle to the first plank. Insert the tongue of the second plank into the groove of the first plank. Gently press down and use a rubber mallet and tapping block to ensure a snug fit. Continue this process, working row by row.

  6. Cutting Planks:

    • Measure and cut the last plank in each row to fit, using a utility knife or saw. Ensure the cut edge faces the wall and leave the appropriate expansion gap.

  7. Stagger Joints:

    • Stagger end joints at least 6 inches between rows to create a more natural appearance and enhance structural integrity.

  8. Tap and Lock:

    • Use the tapping block and rubber mallet to firmly tap the short end of each plank to ensure a tight lock between the planks.

  9. Around Obstacles:

    • For obstacles like pipes or door frames, measure and mark the plank accordingly, then use a saw or appropriate tool to make necessary cuts.

  10. Complete the Installation:

  • Continue installing planks across the room until the entire floor is covered, ensuring the last row fits well. Remove spacers and install baseboards or moldings to cover expansion gaps.

  1. Final Inspection:

  • Inspect the entire floor to ensure all planks are securely locked and the installation is even and free of gaps.

Always refer to the specific manufacturer's instructions that come with your luxury vinyl plank flooring for detailed guidance as different products might have slight variations in installation techniques.
